Umami explosion. Easiest recipe ever. Chargrilled tomatoes are exactly what you need to elevate any of your culinary creations.
I'm going to admit, this is not a recipe that you will light your Keveri H1 for, but it is the addition to your main courses or pizzas that will transform your meals to masterpieces. With Fast Grill Mode it takes less than 10 minutes and will elevate anything you add it to: pizzas, stews, soups, burgers, cheese boards, roasted or grilled meats, anything is better with this sweet, savory umami bomb.
INGREDIENTS
- Ripe Tomatoes, we used Cherry, on the vine
- Salt
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil

PREPARATION
Are you ready? This recipe is as fast as it is easy.
Fast Grill Mode (650°F)
Start by lighting your Keveri H1 in the Fast Grill Mode at 650°F.
Place your tomatoes on a room temperature cast iron skillet like the ones from The Sizzling Pack, and add olive oil, salt and pepper. The skillet doesn’t need to be hot, the temperature of the Keveri H1 will do it for you while it cooks the tomatoes.
Put the skillet in the top rack position and wait for 8 minutes to be ready. That’s all.
One Step Tomatoes
Place your tomatoes on a room temperature cast iron skillet like the ones from The Sizzling Pack, and toss with a light covering of extra virgin olive oil, and salt (recommend Diamond Kosher Salt to cure them rather than over season).
Put the skillet in the top rack position and wait for 8 minutes to be ready. That’s all.
Heat Tip
Be careful, the skillet will be very hot, even with a short amount of time, heat is above average in Fast Grill Mode. Always wear gloves.
Cook's Notes:
This recipe works for any size tomatoes, and is best when using the freshest in-season ingredients. This pairs well with chimichurri or could be sprinkled with fresh herbs and spices for more variations.
This technique also works for many veggies, and can vary in timing slightly based on density of the vegetable. Fast Grill is key to achieving the perfect char. Try everything and surprise yourself: leeks, beets, artichokes ,asparagus, and more.
