This traditional Middle Eastern dish is an explosion of flavors. Its combination of eggs, tomatoes, spices, and the H1 touch makes it an ideal part of any breakfast or brunch spread.

Cooking Shakshuka using the Keveri H1 fire, connects it to tradition, to its roots. The even heat distribution ensures the flavors to develop to perfection. As the ingredients gently simmer over the flames, natural caramelization occurs, enhancing their sweetness and depth. Give this dish a try and get creative with your ingredients.

Ingredients

Serves 4+

4 Eggs

1 White onion

1/2 Red bell pepper

4 Canned whole tomatoes

2 cloves Garlic

Olive oil, salt, paprika, cumin, basil (to taste)

Supplies

2-3 lb of briquettes

High-Temperature Gloves

The Sizzling Pack

Preparation

Step 1

Light up your Keveri H1 in Classic Mode (350 °F - 390°F) Preferably around 350°F

Step 2

Place the large cast-iron skillet from The Sizzling Pack in the middle position of your H1.

Step 3

Heat some olive oil in the skillet and sauté diced onion and red bell pepper for about 5 minutes, until they become fragrant.

Step 4

Add minced garlic and your choice of spices to the skillet. Sauté for another minute or until the garlic becomes fragrant and the spices release their aroma.

Step 5

Pour in a can of whole peeled tomatoes, breaking them apart with a spoon as they cook. Allow the mixture to come to a slight simmer.

Step 6

Once the tomato mixture is simmering, crack your desired number of eggs directly on top of the sauce, spacing them evenly.

Step 7

Cover the skillet and let the eggs cook to your desired level of doneness. This typically takes about 5-7 minutes for runny yolks or longer if you prefer firmer eggs.

Step 8

Once the eggs are cooked to your liking, garnish the Shakshuka with a sprinkle of salt and freshly chopped parsley and cilantro. Serve hot directly from the skillet, with crusty bread or pita on the side for dipping and scooping up the delicious sauce.

Cook's Note:

The key to fire cooking this in the Keveri H1 is allowing each ingredient to char and caramelize to perfection. Also, add your personal taste and texture playing with spices.
